I think the format Blu Ray vs HD DVD war is over

Man.. I was on HD DVDs side too (don't ask me why, I just liked the sound of it more). Oh well, it'll be quite a while before my family bothers with an HDTV (if ever), and I'll be racking up my debt once I head into college next year so I shouldn't have to worry about this format nonsense for the next 6-8 years or so :p.

If they did, then it would be more expensive... And less people would but it. As it is, Those who want HD-DVD Funcionality can have it, those who dont, dont have to pay the price.

Looks like I'll be ordering a blu ray player soon :p

What type of HD TV you sporting David? I'm hoping you have one otherwise Blu Ray isn't worth the money.

How soon till PC games will be on blu-ray?

Thats a good question. I don't think you'll see that for a while. Or at least until Blu Ray players for the computer go down a ways in price.

yea, HD-DVD cancelled a party because Warner Bros is all blu-ray. It won.

Heres some reading on that cancelled party. I think all they have left to discuss is how much money there going to lose lol. Link

I really don't understand what your trying to say there....

Sony may have won the format war, but I agree with MS's decision to not force the consumer into a format that might fail, as well as keeping prices low, which is why they are outselling PS3s. It was a good move.

The war is far from over. In the end, it is up to the consumer which format wins and which loses. Look at Betamax...in terms of specifications, it was far superior to VHS in every way. Yet it still lost out because of it's expensive prices. The format war will be definately over if any side can convince the porn industry to sway for one format. That's partly how VHS beat out Betamax. Thank the billion dollar porn industry.

I agree. Not every one needs an HD DVD player and for most normal DVDs are fine. If you ask me, it's just like Sony to shove their own proprietary formats down the throats of consumers. Look at the PSP and it's use of Sony's MemoryStick Pro. They could've easily gone with SD or Micro SD, but instead they had to use a proprietary format so you HAD to buy their overpriced memory cards in order to store data on the PSP.

Well,I Dont think Pc Games will be on Blu-ray just yet, they have just shifted over to DVD,and some are still on CD.i Give them 3 years until they start making games on bluray for computer.

I Agree,also,a PS3 isnt worth it unless you have a HDTV :D

Sony really turned into an ass to me. Think the last straw was the fact that they loaded an unacceptable amount of bloatware onto their Vaio notebooks. Spent two hours helping a coworker remove that crap. This wasn't a cheap notebook either. Pretty high end if you ask me, and unacceptable at the least for the amount he payed.

As alvino mentioned, Sony loves their Memory Stick format. Have it in both my notebook, and my television - all manufactured by Sony.
