DVI>HDMI Cable, No Audio??

Its DVI port must have some weird extra function...

Have you made sure you've installed all the drivers for it? I'm guessing the video card will have its own sound chip built in, so this will have to be activated instead of the computers main one.
 
Have you gone into the sound properties and selected the Asus chip as the default device?

Go to Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices. Click on Audio tab. Under Sound playback, select the Default device from the drop down list. Click Apply > OK and you should be good to go. :D
 
they should do that... make video cards all support audio
that would be great
so all monitors have 2 speakers like tvs and then you can hook up 5.1 systems
no need for sound cards every again (even no most people use on board)

I did right when I plugged it in, it did nothing.

The Asus isn't mine, I have the Diamon/PowerColor one...

You would think that if you would need a separate course for audio, it would have another wire for the audio, so the DVI has to have some kind of audio.
