Help finding the right mobo

man, $300 is a lot for a motherboard. i figured i'd go with the striker extreme if i was spending that much. is there anything comparable to the gigabyte with a lower price?

Well, a cheaper model would be the P5K3.

X38 chipset vs P35. Lower badwith, but barely noticable. No FSB1600 support off the bat, but you can OC, and you'll have to be lucky to find one from Intel's workplace.

now is there any place you recommend getting the x38? i love newegg but didnt know if somebody else might have a better deal on it. that mobo is looking good to me though.

Look at some of the open box X38s. Some are less than $200.

get either a P35 or X38, both great choices

or the abit one posted above. abits are great because they come with program called uGuru, and it lets you overclock on the fly, or overclock while in the OS.

X38 has PCI-E 2.0 and supports FSB 1600 which makes it more future proof

yeah the x38 is looking very interesting to me. i just have to check on something for the bios but its moving to #1 on the list. thanks guys. Oh and where might the open boxed items be? maybe newegg?
