Recommend a LCD Monitor?

I am looking at 22" Widescreen LCD monitors (16:9) for light gaming, photo edit. and internet.

I am concerned about buying the wrong one based on what I read about them. Is it true that the 1400x900 resolution would be "squashed" somewhat as opposed to a 1680x1050?

I would like to stay in the $250-300 range. Looking mostly at Viewsonic and Samsung. If there would be a resolution issue, then I would look only at the traditional 4:3 monitors.

ive got an acer AL2202W and its great also as a bonus runs up to 1680X1050 which is what i am running at right now and its great

I picked up a 22" Acer AL2216W for like $210 on one of neweggs sales. Great monitor has a 5ms response can't notice any ghosting. 1680X1050 resolutions all around a good monitor. With the money you save pick up a smaller 2nd display. Once you have dual monitors you'll never go back.

Besides my Acer I have a 17" ViewSonic VA721 as a 2nd monitor and there quality is really good. If you still want to spend more on 1 really nice 22" look at the View sonic series.
