New Problem

well i lugged in an old monitor and got the same problem so both of those fixes are out

You don't even see the load screen? It just power's up? Are there any beeps?

no beeps and no load screen powers up fine(comp) but the monitor does nothing but turn on but displays nothing

Hmm. . . You may have knocked something loose then. Go back and carefully recheck all connections, cables, etc. Reseat all peripherals such as vid card, memory, etc.

already did that...lol i have the worst luck with these problems...and seagate tech support isnt open till wednesday...it worked fine until i installed the software and restarted...could it be that the software is at fault?

Remove everything unneeded such as hard drives, CDROM/DVD drives, etc. and just boot with the basics, video and memory, to see if it starts up right.

alright and also would removing the cmos battery do anything do you think?

Hmm. . . The Seagate tools may have borked your boot loader. Here's some good ideas to get it back into shape: 10 things you can do when Windows XP won't boot.

boot loader doesn't effect POST, you need to reseat your RAM and video card first and foremost. try booting with only 1 stick of ram and try reseating the cpu as well. something isn't plugged into the motherboard all the way.

Removing the CMOS battery would have the same effect as clearing the CMOS as you already have done.
