8600 gts vs 3850

the last thing on you mind should be the amount of ram it has!! get the 3850, better in any game than the 8600GT, period.

I heard the 3850 is crap...

i heard this rumor....that the 8800GTX is crap.......dont tell anyone though....

Hell, I should just save up my money for an 8800. I don't have a job, but I pretty much get 3 or 4 dollars every weekday. So it will take me.. about 10 to 20 weeks to get the money, not considering I already have 70 bucks.

Ok, I am confused now, I really want an XFX 8600GT, but I'm hearing the 256 mb HD 38xx series out preforms the 512 mb?

Ok, the way I game I NEED 512 mb of VRAM..

The HD3000 sereis cards are comparable to the 8800 series cards. They are much more powerful than an 8600GT.

FSX the extra 3 FPS between the 8800 and the HD3870 make a difference to me. It proves the HD3870 is better, because it's a little cheaper and is really close to the 8800. I know this is true, because I can only get 1400x900 with my monitor, and the bench was 1900x1200

The overall game FPS is also a good one too

edit- the fsx bench was also ultra quality, which I probably cant get anyways..

the 3850 is definatly better than a 8600GTS. look in the benchmarks(but a 50 dollar difference?) at frys(in ca, i saw a DIAMOND 3850 for 159.99 when a 8600 GTS was 149.99)

I'm sick of fanbois that dont give any reason on why but a link to a benchmark, take into concideration the freaking drivers that company has to offer. Take into concider nvidia puts most of their profits into advertisments and just release drivers like its crackers. Finding a driver for my cuzins 6150 just sucks cuz they all fail, finding one for the FX series ... jsut give up, it literaly burnt my card, dont even get me started on some of the drivers that messed up most 6 and 8 series fan speed's thus burning the card, now you might say omg ati drivers are garbage, but i dont see anythign wrong with it, hit the overdrive button and play your game. now on another note im not bashing nvidia, go for that if you want but i AM bashing those fan bois that have made it their religion to push something on others.

I have never had any of the problems you have experienced with Nvidia drivers. Since way back with my Ti4200 to the current 8600GT in my wifes machine.

the problems just became obvious to me once i made the switch, ive also had nvidia always,, from the Mx440 to Fx 5500 to Fx5600, 6800, 6200, after the switch i ask my self what the hell have i been doing...
