Ok so for x mas i got £135 off various realatives by this friday there will be £165 in my bank tho so i am looking to purchase a few things

i deffinatly want an 80GB sata 300 drive with 8MB cache to replace the ide drive i am using at the moment in my desktop then use that as extra storage
i was thinkong one of theese
http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(24231)Samsung-80GB-HD082GJ-SATA-II-300-Hard-Disk.aspx
or one of theese whihc one is better ?
http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(13605)Seagate-80GB-Barracuda-SATA-II-300-Hard-Disk.aspx

I am also looking at getting an external hard drive for my computer

no at the moment i have seen both theese two for the same price
http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/product.do?sku=365319
http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/product.do?sku=408875

now although this is a no brainer go for the one with more sstorage right i am thinking firstly has anyone in the UK seen one cheaper and secondly i have actually used one of the buffalo ones before as a realative of mine has one in 160gb size and i quite like it and so is compromising the extra 40gb really worth it in this case ?

Ok well update and bump
i got an 80gb seagate baracuda 7200.10 drive , ya i know its small but its only for the os and software to be installed on , and i have installed everything on there and i must say the difference from ide to sata is quite good , i mean the system is jsust a tad bit more responsive now

but atm all my documents are stored on the ide drives and things are running rpetty quickly now

so onyto the external HDD well i dont really want to spend the mponey right now so its my birthday in january so i will be getting more money then nand i get another £100 in jan some time for ema bonus from college so my thinking is wait till january and see what money i have then cos i want to buy my provisonal driving licensce with the money i have now but i am sure at my B day i can spare some money from my driving lesson fuind for an external HDD

Id say go for the Samsung HDD as Ive just put in a 160G an like it although it is a little loud sometimes, also for a little bit more money you can get a 500gb Buffalo Ext HDD http://www.ebuyer.com/search/?strSearch=EXTERNAL+HDD&bolShowAll=true&intMfrID=140&bolShowAll=true
OR this is cheeper http://www.ebuyer.com/search/?strSearch=EXTERNAL+HDD&bolShowAll=true&intMfrID=62&bolShowAll=true

i already got the hdd i went with a seagate just cos my other 2 drives are seagates and i czant hear them so i thought well nothing wrong with another one

and yer i have a samsung in the dell downstairs and it is pretty loud from my expereinces
it may be cheaper but with e buyer you have to pay shipping wheres with comet and the likes of you can go pick it up , but i may be ordering from e buyer soon anyway so if i am i will put on on there

my 500gb ext drive was £89.99 from currys
theres cheaper ones though, + theres online discount codes. worth a go ;)
