The Radeon HD 3850 performs much better than a 8600GTS. If you're looking for better performance in that price range, the HD 3850 can't be beat.

I'd say go with 3850 also BUT ive had very bad luck with visiontek... get Sapphire or powercolor, or basicly anything but visiontek lol, their cards have problems OC'ing and mostly work only with their own drivers the visiontek 2400Pro was a disaster that i had purchased..

no wait dont get the 3850! get the 3870, it will outperform the 3850 by about 500-600 marks on 3dmark06 and its only 50 more dollars! its 2400mhz while the 50 is 1600mhz, and the 50 is gddr3 256mb ram, and the 70 is 512mb gddr4 =D if you have 250 to spend on it, i'd get the 70 haha just unless its outta your buget, then get the 50

LOL! If some one is going to spend upwards of $250 on a video card, they should get an 8800GTS or even an 8800GT as they both own the HD 3870.

sry but the only ones better than the 3870 is the 8800 ultra and the gtx, they have the gt but its overclocked so i wont count it in since anything can run better than normal overclocked.

Yea, I already did: 8800GTS vs. HD 3870.

That's just the G80 core. The G92 core is better yet.

well it can play pray, microsoft flight simulator and doom 3 a little bit better but when it comes to everything else it blows the gts outta the water
