how much of a difference is it? both are evga and have 256mb & 128-bit. and clocks around 475. On my pc right now i have the 7300gt and it plays crysis at 800x600 all on low settings and it still gets about 20 fps how different will it be with the 8500gt.

my guess would be the same except that the 8500 supports dx10, from what i read, the 8500 is not worth the money if ur a gamer, its better to get the 8600 and its best to get the 8800

the 8500GT would offer an OK improvement. it uses the G92 core so its better than the 7300GT of simmilar specs because it uses an older core.

But it's not really enough of a difference to justify buying one, so just save your money for a better card like the 8600/8800/HD 3800 series. And BTW it uses the G86 core.

Actually, I do believe the 7300GT is slower than the 8500GT, but in fact, both are budget cards. I own one with 512MB onboard. Pure power for my needs, and it's fanless.

Although, be careful; the 7300GS is comparable to an 8400GS. That's the main difference.

No, not really. You may buy that card if you're building a new system, but upgrading, no...unless you need DX10....that would still be a waste.

actually the 8500 GT has a G86 core
its not worth it
if you want a gfx desperatly, consider the 8600 GTS. it will run crysis at medium at very good fps

darn i wish i did more homework before i ordered it :( but i still dont have the 8500gt yet from newegg, is it possible to return it if it has been used(i wanna test it out)? Also if i am able to return it ill just get a 8600gt or should i wait till the 8800gs comes out? btw does anyone know the release date of it?

I have the 512 8600 gt and it does runs everything flawless except you must run crysis and COD4 at lower resolutions. 1024 max for it to run decent. I dont know how much different the 8500 is from the 8600 but i dont know if they would let u exchange it if its opened
