I had this problem with my old computer...and I still have it now. When I would put CD's into the drive they would not be read. I installed a number of CD's (drivers) already and now it fails to read the discs and when I go to my computer and open it it says theres nothing in the drive any ideas?

Also if I make a new user, the CD's work fine on there

I have that problem with my computer as well, and as in worshipme's case, a new drive should fix it.

Oh, right, sorry. Have you installed a virtual drive program such as magicdisk (can't remember the name but it's something like that) only when I did, my disk drive disappeared from "my computer".

is the account regular\administrator. if he is a regular user make sure he has permission to use the CD drive. im not sure how to check this, but right click the CD drive on an admin account and go to "sharing" and share the "root of the drive" and click
"share this folder on a network"
than after you click that, click the box that is no longer locked.
