I'm having trouble with my first build. All the hardware is installed inside my case. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146029) Thing is, when I boot up, it runs for a minute, and then shuts off. I checked all the cables, wires, balhalhbabla.. everything seems to be okay. I tried putting in the Vista disc [64 bit] in my drive, in order to boot off of it, and it seemed fine at first. 'said the files were being downloaded. Shortly after, the computer shut off again.

I'm using an EVGA nForce 780i mobo, and a 1000w Cooler Master PSU (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171022&Tpk=cooler+master)

If you have any idea what MIGHT be going on, please let me know. Sucks to be in BS already during my first build. Although I expected it. If you need to know about any more hardware, let me know.

Sounds like a bad PSU to me. Do you have a tester? You might want to see about testing your PSU. If you have another one lying around, try swapping them and seeing if that helps. Let us know if that helps.

How would I test it? It seems to be running fine. Fan, light, etc.

Do you have one out of another computer you could swap? If the computer you put the PSU turns off after a minute, then it would be your PSU. Try that. I have had a couple of PSUs that were defective and would run for a few minutes and cut out. Even one that would work 1 second and die again.

Sigh.

Shit. if it comes down to it, i'll switch out the psu. Thanks for everything. If anything else pops into your head. Advice, maybe.. don't hold back. Plz.

Take the PSU out, plug it into a wall, and connect the green wire to any black wire. It should work for as long as the 2 wires are connected. If not, then it's a bad PSU.

Edit: Could also be overheating. Check that you installed the CPU heatsink right? Remember to remove the plastic sticker over the thermal paste.
