I got my Q6600 running@ 3.2 Ghz, idle temps are 45-50 and prime95 25.5 takes it to around 70-71 max. That seems a little high right. I have 2 120 mm panoflo, one intake one exhaust, and a 80mm blowing right onto my zalman 9700. Vcore set at 1.4. Any reason why my temps are so high? From what I have read idle should be around 35. So I know something must be wrong here.

oh woops sorry
ya those temps are way to high
somthings wrong there even if you dont have the GO quad

Thats what i figured but why is the temps so high?
The vcore is too high would be one reason, higher voltage = higher temperatures

What m/board do you have?

Check that the Zalman is seated correctly.

Which thermal paste did you use and how much and how did you apply it?

the zalman is a crap HSF for this job. an overclocked quad needs a Tuniq Tower 120, Thermaltake Big Typhoon, Thermalright Ultra120 Extreme, Scythe Infinity, etc.... zalman may look pretty but i'd rather have a HSF that works.
