The rep system is okay, can take it or leave it, it is there so I use it.

I wish people would just leave the rep system alone its not doing any harm and I'm tired of people bring it up all the time, if you give someone some bad rep then you should expect it back, that exactly what I would do. its only a red dot for a while so don't go losing any sleep over it, BLIMEY theres people starving in third world countries and all we can moan about is rep get a grip.

Point is to have some green bars that makes you look like a trustworthy person.

For example, if you had a red bar, no way in hell will I send that hard drive + GPU + 2GB before getting the iPod

I think rep is bad because of the reasons said above, and because there seems to be the contest of trying to see who can break the scale and then have that person brag about it. Rep isn't needed, a lot of us don't want it but we'll just be ignored and a mod will lock the thread as usual so why waste time posting about it?
