Unknown Components

Hello. I was seeking information about my computer. I was looking inside it earlier, and I noticed some slots I am unfamiliar with. I took pictures of them and circled them. If you could tell me the purpose of the slots, and if they're useful, please do. Thanks.

1st pic - Long slot is a PCI Express x16 for a video card, the short slot is a PCI Express x1 for peripherals such as a sound card.

2nd pic - Blue connector is the IDE connector for hard drives, CDROM, etc. Black connector is the floppy drive connector.

The big black slot looks like an AGP slot but I'm not sure you need to tell us the make of your motherboard if you don't know it download the trial version of EVEREST http://www.lavalys.com/ and run that it should tell you what it is then post the results back here.

The smaller one is a pci-express 1x i think.
And the bigger one is a pci-express 16x slot
your pci-e 16x can be used for a nvidia 8800gts etc..
and like atomic said the other slot can be used for sound cards capture cards etc..
the white slots are PCI. PCI is for sound cards etc also they are a little bit older and there is a bigger variety of things you can connect to them

Thanks for the help there guys. So what does the PCI x1 have a purpose for? You can upgrade your sound card? And since you told me that the PCI x16 can hold a Nvidia 8800 GTS, i was looking at those recently and wondering what they plug into. On a tangent, how do I determine the power supply I have? Because different video cards required different amounts of minimum power, and I was wondering if mine could handle them.

The best way to determine what power supply you have is to open up the case and look at the sticker on the side of the unit. It will tell the overall wattage and voltage outputs along with brand and model numbers.
