word software

not sure if this is the place to post, but whats a good free typing program?
i need to type up a paper for school, but i only have notepad and wordpad, and my paper needs to double space and stuff, and i dont know how to do it on wordpad.
i need one thats better than wordpad, maybe something like microsoft word, but only free, i wouldnt mind if its a trial version, but i dont want to list my address and information just to download the microsoft word.... or any other program..

OPEN OFFICE is very good and very simular to word it should be perfect for your needs. I second that program.
