A - Too expensive.
B - Rockets have a relatively high rate of malfunction.

If you found a cheap, reliable way to do it, then it might work..

the space shuttles seem to have done pretty well
ya 2 accidents but hundreds of successful flights

2 shuttles destroyed out of 120 missions. Do you know how much radioactive waste there is? Thousands of tons. That would be a LOT of missions. So even if there was only a 1% rate of failure, that would still be a good few failures.

Not to mention the expenses. It's not at all economical to send it to space. Estimates are AT LEAST $60 million per launch. And one rocket can't even hold that much...


On paper, it's a good idea. In practice, not so much.

im pretty sure i remember hearing something about the heat is to great
and also it takes to much energy to start the reaction as of right now?

ya last time i checked that was the status, they can get them started but the heat is too great to keep them running so they have to shutdown the reaction, so once they can find a way to deal with the massive amounts of heat, figure out a way to start more efficiently AND to be able to harness this energy and transform it into electrical energy, then we will have unlimited resources when it comes to power...
