RAM : http://www.ebuyer.com/product/116755 - OCZ 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 CL 4-4-4-15

Hardrive : http://www.ebuyer.com/product/128708 - Western Digital 160Gb

Power Supply : http://www.ebuyer.com/product/135159 - OCZ StealthXtream 500W

not sure on case or DVD drives yet.

but how does that look,

dont mention graphic cards because he doesnt game, suggestions please.

also im still cautious bout compatibility so double check me please :)

thanks guys

if your trying to keep the priuce low you wouldnt be going quad core ,
i would just go with a cheaper dual core if he dosent game he wont really need all the power of a quad core , whats he gonna be doin with this pc ?

hey im trying to sell an Intel DG33TL motherboard, with vista. its made for the Core 2 processors and has an onboard graphics processor (good if there isnt any gaming going on.) also has a PCI-E slot and can hold up to 8GB of 800 ram. $190 +shipping. both vista and the motherboard are sealed and vista is genuine. i dont like vista on my family pc so i dont want it on mine. please consider.

$285 shipped??

no thanks mate.

so you guys really dont suggest the quad core. the only reason im suggesting that is so tat it lasts him a long time, i mean he has had his current pc for 2 years and it is slow as a snail. so im thinking a build like that will last a long time,

and n e ways im thinking a half decent dual core costs £120 ish and its just stupid to not pay the extra £40 for the quad core ??

how bout compatibility ??

n e other suggestions apart from RAM

i would get a motherboard with 4 ram slots. just in case he needs 4\3 gb of ram in the future. with a quad core that machine should last him a long time if he isnt a gamer, and he might want room to expand on it.

I'd replace the OCZ with something more reliable. Maybe I just had a bad experience with OCZ but mine couldn't overclock much and I burnt a stick.

wont be overclocking anyways,

maybe ill think about a new board with 4 RAM slots,

and id need a HS&F but how is everything else,

the computer will be used for general web surfing etc nothing major but id like something that will last him a long tima and that he can upgrade to vista on
