disappearing taskbar and icons . . .

when i start the pc, after booting up and reaching the desktop screen, the taskbar and the icons on the desktop keep disappearing and reappearing, this goes on for a little while and then they just disappear for good, and all that is left is the wallpaper! the pc is working fine, like i can use the net, watch a movie, or anything but if i minimize anything then i have to switch to it using alt+tab, the start button on the keyboard isnt working either, and the right click on the desktop has no response also.

what the hell is goin on ? is this a virus ?

sounds like it could be a virus that has somehow corrupted explorer.exe, best best would be safe mode then virus scan then do system repair with an XP disk to get explorer.exe working good again

It's windows explorer.exe crashing, a very lovely problem.

Besides spending alot of tedious time troubleshooting or doing a repair install of windows, their's no real fix.
