Keystroke Logging

I am about to leave school (college) for Christmas break. I have a roommate that will be staying over break due to his sr. thesis he has to complete. I have always thought that he has been going onto my computer because of some strange things that have happened but never really had proof of it.

I figure that this break where I will be gone for about 3 weeks would be a good time to see if I can put an end to this. First of all let me say that yes, I have an account with a password setup on it for Windows but we all know how easy it is to get around that. I am looking for what would be the best keystroke logger out there that you guys know about. I don't care if it is commercial or open source. Just as long as it is easy to use, completely transparent. I would prefer it to log keystrokes as well as take screen shots if at all possible.

I would trust your words over any Google search because I don't care who has more advertising money, I just want a good program that works.

Honestly id never trust anything like this i found on the web, would be easier to make your own, on that note i doubt you will find much information on how to gain someones information on here, its not the advised material people should be posting on these forums :)

I am not looking to find his information. I believe he is using my computer and I don't want him to. All I want is to find out for sure if he is using my computer and then if he is, be able to confront him with something as proof. I could care less about his personal information like passwords and such. I just want to know if he is going to questionable kinds of sites on my computer. I wanted the screenhots just so I have proof.

If you password protect your account, and go into safemode and password protect the Admin account, normal people cannot break in. That's what I'd do.

With the combination of a Windows password and a BIOS password (Also disable boot from CD in BIOS), you'll be able to know if he touches your computer :)

Far easier than a keylogger, and you don't have to deal with all the bogus software.

Well technically, you could use a screen recording program, but then he would probably know about it as it runs in the background and makes somewhat of big lag. The BIOS password is a good idea, and if you really didn't want him on it, either take out something small but required for comp to run (like RAM or something), take the power chord with you on the trip, or call up your ISP and ask them to temporarily disable your internet (so the only things he would be able to do is like type word documents or something)

If he plans on using your computer for his project, why not he just use his own?

well here is the thing. He doesn't have his own but uses the computers in one of the labs here at school. I don't want to take the cord or hard drive because I don't want him to know that I am expecting him to use it. I want to catch him using it with him being unaware.

At the beginning of the semester, i noticed that my computer was running really slowly so obviously I ran all the programs and found tons of crap on it. As I was going through the history, I noticed some sites that are somewhat questionable morally (not porn but sites that sell research papers). I told him that I don't want him to ever go on my computer again because I know the school can monitor the traffic and the IP on my compute is assigned to me. I don't want to get in trouble for what he is doing. If I catch him, I have a strong reason to either force him to move out or I can threaten to get the school involved and be able to prove that it was not me using the sites because they keep records of who stays on campus over break and who doesn't.

So this is as much for my own academic safety as it is to stop him.

i had this problem so what i did was made a small program, and set my registries to run the program apon boot, and all it did was shutdown as soon as you logged in.

Fortunatly the dude i tricked didn't run safe mode. So thats the only downside
