AFAIK, the FX5500's weren't made in PCI-E, just AGP and PCI. So it looks as if he's going to need a new motherboard as well for PCI-E support.

He can't get an 8800GT because he has a PCI slot (NOT PCI-Ex16)..

If you in fact are using a PCI video card, save your money up for a new build and it'll be worth it.
