Intel Core 2 Extreme

It might be best looking on articles. Maybe try a bios upgrade if there is one?

Yeah worth another shot, when I looked 2-3 months ago I had the newest bios though. I think i just got a processor that just barely made the 2.4 bin :( Or a crappy mobo, quite possibly.

EDIT: I did up the FSB and make it run at 2.66. I overclocked my friends E6300 to 2.66, so I couldn't have anything slower than what he has.

Well, I can't get my brothers past 2.4ghz, so your doing better than his :p

2.4ghz is stock though! You should just return it it.

I am using stock cooling though, but I upped the voltage and even on a 100% load I couldnt make my CPU temp go above 50.

At least my new CPU has a higher clock than my old one (Stock was 2.2)

I think its probably the motherboard, since I've never used an Asus board before, so I'm not really getting how one works.

It's an eVGA board as stated before, not an Asus

Updated the bios, gave it another go trying 3.0ghz

About 2 min into using windows, PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA!!

Argh.

I'm going to remove a soundcard and a network card and see if I can hit 3.0

I was happy at first, thought it worked. This states my reaction

Haha, I meant my brother has an Asus, and I don't know how to work them :p

Using different boards isnt really hard at all

I've overclocked all these boards

Legend QDI Advance 10E, Asus A8V-Deluxe, MSI Neo-4F and eVGA 680I (well, kinda :p )

Also friends Asus P5B, and some random AMD board which I forgot.

Maybe its just me then :p
I've only ever overclocked 1 board sucessfully, and thats been the Abit so far. Though, I've only tried that one time properly. I don't really care too much about my brothers to try to overclock it much.
