Ford SYNC! Freind of foe ?

I just heard that microsoft made a vehicle with ford and it super high tech . I hope its not using vista technology or else the car might not be compatible with the road.

Yeah, they are using them in the new 2008 Focus. I have not used the system, but I have heard both sides.

1. It's nice.
2. The voice commands aren't accurate.

But I'm friends with a Ford tech and he told me something cool last night. You can save updates to a jump drive and plug it in (SYNC has a USB port) and always have an updated system.

I've seen tons of commercials on this. I was curious about this and intrigued by the voice activation. Turns out that it's only for american cars only, lol. No imports of any kind allowed to use it. Sucks.

Well one bad thing about it, it's wired directly into the PCM. So basically, I hope you like your sound quality cause you can't replace anything in it.

You could probably power and wire a head unit and speakers separately, but that's kind of beside the point of this thing. It is an option after all.
