Car Thread!

LOL yeah, but when someone calls you out it's usually a drag. I'd take anyone calling me out to an autocross track but certainly not a drag. I can relate to you is all I'm saying, he's talking about the 1/4.

My SCCA Region's organizer drives an RX-8 with just Azenis I think and he always get the fastest times. But probably because he designs the tracks, haha.

Oh and I'll still drag him with NO PROBLEM. My car isnt stock. LOL :D

In a drag race with heavy mods, maybe. Let's see how your Talon handles in a technical course against the RX-8.

If my car can keep up with Z06's and Porsche's in corner, I HIGHLY doubt that Talon will be anywhere near me when I cross the finish line. LMAO

Here's a STOCK RX8 against a modded S2000: http://www.thommino.com/Video/Rx-8/267RX8(2).wmv

Very slightly modded RX8(nothing done to the engine) against NEW Z06 (238hp vs 400hp): http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7047082355867456543&q=rx-8

There are tons more, but I have some design work to do for my clients. LOL

My 1998 Ford Contour is in for repairs
I need
New brake lines
New Calipers-(Bleader screws broke off)
Maybe new wheel cylinders
new CV Joint
Maybe an oil change

Thats it
besides that it runs perfectly!!!
No rust on the outside
no dents
no nothing!

Front wheel drive
2 brand new! snow tires
Auto transmission

I just drove in the snow for the first time!! My 4x2 had a bit of a hard time. I dont have any weight in the back yet, so it would spin the tires at every stop sign, and fishtail. But I made it back. Anti-locks only need to kick in once, and I tried not to come to a complete stop at any signs, so I could have a little momentum. There were a lot of people in little cars driving about in the storm. We have gotten about 2-3 inches of snow in the last 2 hours.

I agree. The RX-8's 50-50 weight distribution puts it in a class way above it's power. The Renesis is no slouch though...200+ HP from a 1.3L engine? Hah...

Well it is a rotary, so they make big power for such a small displacement. They seem a tad heavy though at 3,000 lbs.

Can anyone speak for the reliability of older rotaries (FC's specifically), because I'm looking for a car sometime after I graduate this year, and I'm considering them.

I've heard a lot of older RX7's owners saying the are hitting well over 200,000 miles. Its all about how you take care of it. These Rotories DO need a little more care than other cars, but its well worth it in the long run.

Check the RX7Club Forums..............

Yeah, rotaries rev really high, not to mention the engine's small size.

Alot of the older rotaries like the FC are holding up quite well as long as you maintain them well enough. Especially with the FC's 13B-REW sequential twin turbo setup.

My only complaint about rotary powered cars is the poor fuel economy. When 12 gallons of 89 octane gas costs me $40, fuel economy is rather important. But damn, it's so nice...high rev engines are pure sex.
