Laptop won't recognize my dvd/cd-r drive

I am using a Toshiba Satelliate A-85 with 1GB of memory. This morning when I booted up my computer it wouldn't recognize my dvd/cd-r drive. I have checked under My Computer and it shows only the C: drive. Last night I was downloading some different programs to burn my dvd's on cd-r's. The drive worked fine last night.

Anyone have any ideas? I really need help.

that sometimes happens to me, its showing up now, but when i turn the laptop off and back on again it doesnt show up at all, not even in the bios

Any idea what causes it or how to fix it?

i think with mine its something inside, coz when it doesnt show up, i open the cd drive, and push harder to get it in, then restart the laptop and it shows up, soo im getting its a connector inside that is loose
