Ok, so I just finished building my new computer, and I hit the power button and it turned on for like 5 seconds and then everything turned off. All of the fans work, the heatsink works, the mobo light turns on, the psu fans and heatsink of lcd screen light up. I wore an esd bracelet, rubber bottom shoes and stuff. The mobo doesnt have an onboard video card so I cannot unplug the vid card. Thanks.

Hmmm, I was asking because a lot of people forget to put them in so their MOBO shorts out against the case.

You're not getting any beep codes? Is the case speaker plugged in properly?

Unplug components one by one until it stays on. Start with unnecessary things like DVD drives.

i use to have this problem all the time when i first built my computer, the screws were too tight, and cause the motherboard to short circuit, and only turns on for about a second, then my friend told me that i was short circuiting my motherboard, and screwed these plastic things on the case, and just putted my motherboard on top through the pins, and they work pretty well, after that, my computer was able to run.
hope this helps :)
