I took the hard drives from my old computer and put them in one that is newer. The new one had no hard drives in it. Hey it was free and faster than the old one. Now when I tried to start the computer it shows a screen that says windows failed to start successfully and gives me options to boot the system only none of them work. I'm I going to have to reinstall xp or can it be fixed another way?

You'll have to do a repair install at the very minimum.

All the m/board drivers will be different (unless the m/boards were exactly the same)

Boot from your OS disk (I assume it is XP) and do a repair install, then install all the m/board drivers for the new board.

If that doesn't work put the drives back in your old pc, back up your data, replace them in the 'new" pc and format.
