most computer stores around me will only hire techs, if they are certified in PC repair.

Yes, apple offers a program to get certified for repairing mac's. If someone can get a job working with Mac's, they will be payed quite a bit more than a PC technician.

The advantages of having a "PC repair certificate" are that alot of places will only hire you if you have it.

You get schooling to prove what you know (or actually learn)

Try applying for a job saying "I'm a CF member, I can do it". You'd be denied.
