^ ohh ok thanks so really, if your using DVI on a video card and using a DVI cable to a DVI lcd screen it could potentially be better since it doesnt need to convert at all?

Yep, though in cheaper monitors for some reason, using DVI produces some colour banding. My monitor does, and I can't explain why, when VGA is fine, but slightly more blurry around edges.

Colour banding, is when your looking at a gradient;
lets say for example black to red to white as an example,

and its not a 100% smooth transition from each colour to the next.

Times I notice this in games is close up on some textures, and when a bomb goes off, and smoke fills the screen.

then where will i get the sound out from because there is only a vga at the other end. I dont know much bout scart cables but do they also carry audio as well as video?

High expentencies that no. It'll display the stuff, but no sound.
