that might be in just canada, might be different in the states. at one point a lot of my friends that it was illegal to own\buy\sell a bong and thought it was funny that they found a store that sold one.

Its only illegal to have one in your possession if it was used to smoke a illegal substance. Then its called paraphernalia in which case you can get charges. But if they determine it the substance smoke from it is legal they can't do jack.
