I get during startup an error saying "Primary hard disk drive 1 not found"

what is this?

it says to hit F1 and I do and then it boots up. Is this something I should worry about?

I would presume you're talking about an IDE drive?

Sounds like you've got your boot disk connected to the ide 2 controller which would make it the secondary master or the jumpers are set to slave which would make it primary slave as opposed to primary master.

Check the jumpers and IDE channel.

i agree with Folder on this one try looking at the jumper settings on your primary drives and also the IDE Ribbon and make sure your HDD is in the primary slot... also if youre knowledgeable about the BIOS feature on your computer, see how its listed in your IDE configuration.
