installing new HD problems..

basically the pins on the my old HD broke so i bought a new one with twice the storage space but when i install it i get a message saying "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device"..any ideas what to do? its conneted through SATA cables and its recongized in the bios menu

Precisely, you'll need to initialise it, partition it, format it and install windows before it will boot.

yea im in process of doing that now ..when do i input the CD that came with the hard drive ?

What's on the cd??

I've never had a cd with a hdd before.

You'll probably wont need the CD if Windows "sees" the drive and installs fine. The CD more than likely contains a hard drive utility that will initialize, partition and format the drive. It may also contain a diagnostic program to test the drive for any problems.
