New hard drive question..

i have little experience with them but i recently broke the pins on my HD and after awile of trying to fix it (with one succesful attempt but the computer ran like shit) i gave up and Ordered a new HD with double the storage space (from 80 to 160) now when i install the new HD is all of my previous stuff gonna be lost?

Unless you can get the broken one set in as a slave drive and try and transfer the files over to the new one. But I doubt that would go too well, may not even work or it may have corrupted files during transfer. I would try it though.
