overclocking a pentium II

Our school has a mix of stuff. The ones I usually use are Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz 256MB RAM systems. The lappies are 1.6 Ghz Celeron M's or Turions of unknown speed. The library has mostly 1.8 Ghz Athlon systems, while a few are X2.

Yeah, your dad was right.
turns out that they didn't write pentium 2 on the big brick for nothing.

this type of chip connection is called slot 2 this replaced the socket 7 / super socket 7 fpga layout way of connecting the chip to the main board.

it was superseded by P3's FPGA (although some p3's still connected with a slot 2 type connection)

Slot 2s are PII and PII Xeons only. You're talking about Slot 1 CPUs. Also, Slot 1 competed a lot with Socket 77, due to the K6s from 300-550 (600+ OCed)
