Final Questions on Graphics Card Installation

If you've been paying attention to my topics you'll know I got some graphics cards, the most powerful of which is an ATI Radeon 9550 256 MB which is in my hands right now, I'm glad I don't need a molex connector or the like as it appears. Final questions:

1) When turning onboard video off (do I need to on a Dell Dimension 4600i if I am installing a graphics card) do I need to shut down, go in, boot into BIOS and turn off onboard video, turn back off and do the installation? Do I have to make sure my AGP slot is set to AGP 8x?

2) I got the newest catalyst drivers from ATI yesterday before doing this installation of this graphics card, I installed them twice since it said "We have detected no hardware/software". I may have screwed up by doing the same drivers twice, should I find the directory, uninstall the drivers, re-install them (and ignore the message?) and then proceed as planned?

That's about it. Thanks!
