i'm having a problem with my friends ethernet. he just bought an Compaq SR5110NX, and it came with Vista. He didnt like vista much so wanted to go to XP. I converted it to xp, and his there was no graphics driver for his computer for the OS xp, so we bought a graphics card later on. but now there was no way to get the ethernet to work, the modem never detects the on board ethernet port.
is there a way to fix this problem?
it works when i go back to Vista, but not when its on XP

I would always double check the Device Manger first to see if there are any issues with the Network Adapters.

Make sure the Ethernet drivers are XP compatible. If you have to, download on another PC, the driver you need for your motherboard.

You've tried rebooting the PC and modem?

theres only one network adapter on the device manager, which is the driver for the USB on the qwest modem, the ethernet does not even show. on the main website, the only drivers they had was for Vista.
any more suggestions?
thanks in advance

lol, I have the same computer, and my Ethernet port burned out in 2 months, then about 2 weeks later my entire mb just died.
