As most of you know, The Orange Box (Half Life 2, Portal, TF2) came out a couple weeks ago. I really want to get it, it's just that my computer wouldn't even stand a chance at running it. Now here comes the problem. I've never even looked into computers or even thought about building one before until now. I did some research and there is just too much to choose from. Any suggestions as to what I should get? Ideally, the computer should be able to run The Orange Box and various other games with max specs.

Yeah, I was planning to build an entirely new PC, but I have no knowledge on how to do so. Thanks for the suggestions.

Well, beofre you throw yourself in the new PC market, what is your current PC's specs?

Tell me how much your looking to spend, and I'll give you a good guideline on what parts to get.

Maybe around 600 dollars. I'll go a little over if I have to. Think I can make a good comp with that much?
