quick laptop ram help

so im going to upgrade my dell 1520 to 3 gigs of ram(1-1gig/1-2gig stick)and im wanting to know if this ram will work? i can not find what brands are certified with dells....

It looks like it will work, but just to be sure, run Crucial's RAM scanner.

I hope this doesn't warrant a "thread hijack" but in regards to upgrading RAM and a laptop, how "tedious" is it to do that yourself? I've been looking to do the same thing, but I'm more familiar with the hardware of a desktop than a laptop. Thanks.

Its dead easy. Just find the panel where your ram goes at the bottom of the laptop and its like putting a sim card in a phone. Easier then PC's.

yea no you can hijack all you want lol....but no it is easy except on my dell i have a stick on the bottom and one underneath the keyboard..
