[HELP] 500GB SATA II and ASUS A8V-VM mobo not working

Hi, I bought this hard disk

to work on this motherboard

but the motherboard doesn't really detect. When i go into the bios and look up hard drives is pops up as

RAID:WDC WD5000AAK

i cannot boot from the device. I cannot install windows on it.

BUT when i tried it on another pc (ASUS P5S800-VM) which is an older board i believe, it works fine!

What can i do??

It sounds like it's looking for a RAID setup that isn't there. Try disabling any RAID options in the bios and see if that does anything.

Once in Bios with that mobo, go to on board configuaration, then to Raid Settings, then disable. Should work.

I can find it under south bridge but disabling it makes no difference. there is this other thing call AHCI. What do I set? Manual is here

Ah, I see. When you install Windows XP, Press F6 when prompted. You will need to create a floppy disk containing the RAID drivers found on CD. It often pops up when the Autoplay goes. Do that on another computer, while the other loads files.

I never go any drivers with it and im not sure where exactly i can get them from. Can someone give me a weblink please. Not sure i downloaded the right thing on there website last time.

This is weird. It has SATA drivers, but it's only for Linux.

Your right. I checked there. I also checked on my motherboard cd, and it only has drivers for linux. What should i do?

Shoot man, looks like it's going to e a hard one. HAve you tried a Vista copy?
