hi

i was wondering if i could plug my ntl tv box which has a scart tv connector and an RF output only to a monitor. what sort of monitor will i need or can i just use some sort of adaptor/connector or cable.

ummm....wont you need a converter since signals normally to tv's are in RGB not the same as computer monitors? or am i wrong?

There is such thing as a Scart to VGA connection. I've seen them :)

oh, so computer monitors use the same RGB signals as a tv then? or that other one umm YMCK or whatever its called...

VGA is basically an RGB signal, and analogue also.
The other connection most computer monitors have now is a DVI, which is all digital

ohh ok :) i always assumed that computer monitors would have a different signal...do you know what kind of format the DVI monitors are?

DVI monitors are digital, since LCD panels are digital in nature.

When you have a VGA cable plugged in however, what you are effectively doing is converting from the video card, a digital signal, to an analogue signal, and back to a digital when it reaches the monitor.
