dx10 with XP?

Microsoft is scheduled to release SP3 for all versions of XP in the first half of 2008 (supposedly). The beta version is out now for developers only. The only interesting new feature of XP SP3 I know of is the support for NAP (Network Access Protection).

Here's the official roadmap:

thanks :)

edit: oh its not until 2008 :( might as well get vista with SP1 by then i guess

I seriously doubt Microsoft will be the ones to do it. However, some people are trying to do it themselves, although who knows if it'll ever work. By the time they get a stable release (if ever) Vista will probably be widely accepted.

There's also supposedly something called XSOS in development. Who knows if it's real or not, but it's a cross of Windows and Linux. Supports DirectX 10, but none of the Vista bloatware:

Chances are he'll be closed down though, i.e, Microsoft will get to him :(

1) This is not Warez
2) this was made with permission and assistance from Microsoft
3) No we are not going to release the source code
4) As per the microsoft agreement we request you to own a valid microsoft operating system.
5) The beta versions will be given in groups and you have to know how to check MD5s, unzip Rar files and how to burn ISO images.
So supposedly, he made a deal with Microsoft that as long as you own any Microsoft OS, you can use this. Obviously though, there's no way of checking...

DX10 will never be integrated to XP, the XP Windows kernel would need drastic alteration which isn't going to happen.

Forget about DX10 in XP

y would u want dx10 in xp?

This is true, I was scared about all the issues I heard about Vista, but I tried anyways. I did a clean install, runs faster, and I would never go back. I love it

Except XP uses less resources...so more resources available for higher FPS in games.

The other thing is, all the software I use still isn't compatible with Vista...
