Go to the Zalman site, select your cooler, click on the installation movie.

Yes you do have to remove your board from the case to attach the back plate.

The backplate is the mounting plate you have to put behind the motherboard. I haven't noticed a temperature difference between the two, but the Zalman grease is easier to apply.
 
Yeah its a nice cooler :)

People saying that it doesn't work on quads etc are talking crap, because I have it running on a quad and under the 40's idle + overclocked
 
I didn't mean that...

I meant it works for quads, meaning in terms of cooling. A lot of people say it isn't sufficent, but I have proof it is.
 
A lot of people say a lot of things. If that were true, everyone using stock coolers would have a dead CPU.
