ok interesting in hosting a website for my Gf's brother now i have an old P3 1000Mhz laptop with 512Mb RAM will that be able to act as a web server ?
i have absyss web server program im using and jus for testing purposes i have a free domain redirection when i host my gf's brothers i may tell him to purchase 1.
but what im asking is do you need a monster of a machine to act as a web server or will that old laptop do ?
no problems with it being on 24 hours a day.
im getting be broadband with 5Mb downloads and 1.3Mb upload.
i can get around the dynamic IP address thing but i may be getting a static IP address aswell i havent decided yet.
my main is will the laptop handle it ? im running it on my laptop at the moment and i hardly notice it.
