Graphics card - colour settings

My laptop has Intel 82815 integrated graphics. The peoblem is that the laptop has a native screen resolution of 1400x1050, but if the settings are turned up that high i can only use 16bit colours (High Colour), so pictures look strange and xp icons looked messed up. If I use a lower resolution ie 1024x768 I don't have the colour problem, but everything looks too blurry. I have tried updated drivers without any luck. So my question is, is there a way to force the graphics to use a higher colour setting on higher resolutions? Thanks in advance.

RAM: 320MB - Upgraded from 128MB
HDD: 30GB
OS: Windows XP Professional SP2 - Upgraded from Windows 2000 Pro SP4
Graphics: Intel 82815 (integrated)
Processor: Pentium III Mobile 850mhz

The comp probably can't handle that resolution with those specs.

when u bought that laptop they had that kind of resolutions? im staring at ur processor.
