avi file not playing

I have a movie in avi format that won't play on winamp, real player or windows media player.

The sound is fine that plays but the actual movie itself won't play. It has dimensions in the properties and is in an avi format, the music being in a mpeg format. I've tried a avi plug in for winamp not sure if it worked but I'm still a little confused as to why it isn't working.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

try re downloading and installing the avi codex pack + . Also instead of using windows media player, have you tried using VLC media player? Give it a try

Vlc will play ANYTHING you throw at it. Seriously.

I third VLC. I render my short films to mpeg2 and nothing else but VLC will play them.

But anyway, you just need the right codecs. I'd use k-lite codec pack.

I use VLC to play .mov.
I hate supporing Apple.. My stepdad is a complete apple fanboy follower. It's so annoying, I hate apple for spawning those type of beasts! (He's a cool guy though)

yep i also vote VNC

any avi codec pack, klite, divx, or stuff like that should get it working, but tbh vlc is all you need

portable VLC is cool to carry around on a flash drive as well, it only takes up about 8MB...

Well downloading VLC now, if it doesn't work I'm going to shoot myself. God damn it this is annoying.
