It is a special form of MPEG2 but ignore that - it's like an audio cd - you don't just burn the files. Your burning program (Nero, Roxio) should have an option to burn a video DVD.
 
i think you need a program that will convert to .vob

but thats the hard way about things the easiest way is to acquire a copy of nero and buy aquire i mean dont pay the full £40 or whateva it is buy a £20 DVD RW drive and get it free .v or go for the naughty t word,

but there are others if your computer came with a DVD RW then it probably has some kinda software for DVD Making
 
Nero 7 does that fine for me and even lets you mess about creating menus
