FTP problems

So I have been using an FTP server for our company website for the past 8 years. We have recently changed our domain name. Now for some reason when I try to log in, i get an error. I have called the company that has the server and they restarted it and the problem was fixed. Then the next day I will get the same error message when trying to log in. I guess what I am asking is...is this a problem with their server or my connection. I don't think it has anything to do with mine but I am not sure.

Below is the connection error that is given to me:

Connection Error
This could be caused by any of the following reasons:
Your network connection is down.
The host address is incorrect.
The server you are attempting to connect with is not available.
Click the Details button to view information from the connection log.

Details:
Finding Host www.mycompany.com ...
Connecting to 63.105.34.124:21
Connected to 63.105.34.124:21 in 0.000000 seconds, Waiting for Server Response
Error reading response from server.
Connection closed by remote host.
Host type (1): Automatic Detect

I changed the domain address, but I do know that the web servers are up and running because I can view the page. Also like I said before, when the server is reset on their side, I can then log in without any problem but then next day, I will not be able to log in.

Any ideas on the problem here. They claim it is my connection but honestly I do not know.

i've had probs with ftp servers going from passive to non passive connections and vice versa all of a sudden.

maybe that? never looked into the tech reasons behind it though.
