Recently my best computer's motherboard broke so I have been having to use a much older one for work/games etc. I decided to try to install and play Splinter Cell on it but it just refuses to run. It installs without a problem but as soon as I open the game it syas "General protection fault!" and closes the game. I never tried this game on my newer pc but I lent it to a freind who also had problems with it, but completely different to my one. Is it a damaged disc or a problem with the pc (like old graphics card). The spec of this pc I am trying to run it on is:
Dell Dimension XPS T700R
Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2
nVidia Riva TNT2 Model 64 (32Mb, 2xAGP)
80GB IDE HDD
512 MB (SDRAM)
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 24-Bit
Intel Pentium III - E 700mhz
- Yes I no its old and rubbish, this may be the cause of the problem, thanks for any advice.

the processor, ram and graphics cards are way to ancient. man i dont think you hardware would support it

Thanks for the reply. I just found the system requirements, they are:
System: PIII 800 or equivalent
RAM: 256 MB
Video Memory: 32 MB
Hard Drive Space: 1500 MB
This old pc seems to beat that at everything appart from the 800mhz Pentium III (mine is 700mhz). Would this processor really stop the game from opening? I suppose though if it did run it would run very slowly.
