I have no idea if anyone is still monitoring this thread anymore. What with guests staying, and other calls on my time, including being away from this for periods of time, I wasn't able to get to do these things before today.
However, I can still report that the situation remains the same. Neither computer can see each other, both can access the internet, neither can share printers and no matter what I set my computer too (in terms of TCP/IP settings) nothing changes. It either continues as is or simply fails to find the internet again.
I'm ready for any off the wall suggestions, including the use of a wombat, a pair of pliers and a cheap battery. As all the normal things have refused to work, I guess it's about time for the abnormal!
