How to choose a motherboard?

Cant you get Motherboards that support like 128GB Ram?

that would probably be pretty useless especially when your memory usage would be like 1% even running everything at once. would need a damn good processor to make use of it

More like Holy grail of over-price piece of crap. So picky on memory, and really no good features over other 680i boards, with the exception of the post LEDs on the back I/O plate as well.

This board is a much better buy, and is way more reliable.

The striker does hold the world speed record last time I checked, but I'd still go with the eVGA board. Striker is overpriced, and questionable reliability.

128GB of ram is nothing for some applications (Think: Databases)

oh and change your case to a antec 900 best case
and id go evga for mb and gpu brand

Striker is overpriced, and questionable reliability.

Yeah, questionable is right. a few of the ones I've worked with at work would only post video every-other boot. The ones that posted every time seem to have no other problems once they are on "approved" ram.

First I see the Holy Grail of motherboards. I click the link expecting to see the Evga 680I. Then I see the heading on newegg Asus Striker I, LOL and close.

i was eyeballing the
BFG Tech GeForce 8800GTX

it has all of the mem that i want and a good core speed
why would getting all EVGA be so important?
all of the other EVGAs are way to expensive for the same(or close to) specs
and the only one that has an acceptable core speed would be this

it has great core speed but it has less bits and less mem.
if you could explain the pros and cons of each of my choices then i can better understand

can you explain why the antec 900 is better than the thermaltake that i have chosen?
i doesnt even have a 3.5" bay
and 2 large 120mm fans in front
i cant even put my 3.5" floppy drive and multicard reader inside
and thats what i want to do, i dont want 1/2 of my equipment on the outside of the case

Well the thing with Evga is its going to overclock way more than the board you have selected.

Not to mention it has a lifetime warranty so if you burn anything up for any reason you can RMA it and get a new board at no cost depending on the Ear program you select. Basic Ear is free you just pay for the shipping back to Evga. They take care of the rest.
