blah blah blah, I know there's alot out there and I thought it would be easier to ask experienced people...

I need something that records from a mike to an mp3.. not audicity(aud) or something like that.. which I've ran into...

i use "absolute sound recorder". records to mp3, good quality, easy to use. i just hit the record button and then stop it and its saved, simple
its not exactly free, unless you look in the right places if you catch my drift

^^ Lol....... Why dont you get a really cheap mobile (cell phone w/e) and if someone (e.g. yourself) rang yourself on the cheap mobile, and answered, then you would be able to listen to wherever the old mobile was...
